I was messing around with wordpress/buddypress self hosted a bit ago and came across a new chat for wordpress called chatbro.com, chatbro uses telegram.org and VK to connect to it's chat, and its just like facebook messenger and even hipchat a little bit.
They have emoji's and stickers and you can sign up for free at http://web.telegram.org, and use it, just like messenger as well. I don't see a video app yet but it as api and all sorts of wonderfulness.

The only con is you must connect by phone number, and people don't like to depart with those, but happiness and joy! :dancers:
